Vinny Smith

Vincent C. (Vinny) Smith

Executive Chairman

Vinny Smith is responsible for leading the strategic direction of Quest Software. A major trade magazine dubbed him the “archetypal athlete of the business game,” because of his drive, team spirit, enthusiasm and motivation.

Smith was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 1998 to 2008. Under his direction, Quest became a leading enterprise systems management company. When Smith joined Quest as an investor and director in 1995, the company had just 25 employees and $4 million in revenue; today, the company has more than 3,400 employees worldwide and $695 million in revenue.

Prior to joining Quest, Smith cofounded Patrol Software. He financed the company, ran North American operations, and directed worldwide sales and marketing. In 1994, BMC Software bought Patrol. After the acquisition, Smith remained at the company for a year to help BMC transition from a mainframe-oriented company to an open systems-solution provider.

Prior to his time at Patrol Software, Smith attained success in sales and marketing at Oracle, where he worked under Tom Siebel. During his five years with the company, he managed more than 60 sales representatives — as well as the technical and operational staff that supported his team. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minor in economics from the University of Delaware.

Doug Garn

Douglas F. Garn

Chief Executive Officer and President

Doug Garn is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Quest Software.

Serving in a variety of executive roles since he came to Quest, he has been a primary contributor to the company’s double-digit growth. He became president of Quest in 2005. In that role, he directed the strategies and operations of the worldwide sales, product management, and marketing teams. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Garn joined Quest in 1998 from Peregrine Systems, where he was Vice President of North American Sales.

Prior to joining Peregrine in 1996, Garn was Vice President of Sales at Syntax, a networking software company. Garn also served as a Regional Sales Manager for BMC from 1993 to 1995. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Southern California.

Scott Davidson

Scott Davidson

Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Scott Davidson is responsible for global financial strategy and operations including information services. He joined the company in 2002 as Treasurer — managing worldwide investment operations, SEC reporting, investor relations, risk management, purchase accounting and was also involved in corporate development.

Between 1997 and 2001, Davidson was the Director of Corporate Treasury at Citrix Systems. From 1996 to 1997, he was the Manager of Pricing for Telecommunication Services at Precision Response Corp (PRC), which was acquired by InterActive Corp. Prior to PRC, he was a National Bank Examiner for the United States Treasury - Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Davidson holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami.

Steve Dickson

Steve Dickson

Senior Vice President of Product Management

Steve Dickson is responsible for managing all of the company’s business units. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President and General Manager of the Windows Business Unit. Other positions he’s held during his tenure at Quest include Vice President of Sales for the Western Region and Vice President of Sales for Microsoft Solutions.

Before joining Quest in 1998, he worked for Air Liquide as a regional manager. Dickson holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Weber State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine University in Southern California.

Alan Fudge

Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Alan Fudge is responsible for the company’s sales force in 27 countries. He has more than 20 years of experience in executive management and sales operations, including both direct and channel sales. Prior to joining Quest, Fudge served as President and CEO of GuardianEdge Technologies, a leader in enterprise end-point data protection. While there, he was responsible for leading the company’s strategic direction and overseeing day-to-day operations. Fudge has also held executive positions with VMware, BEA Systems, Objectspace and IBM. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from St. Edward’s University in Texas.

Steve Kahan

Steve Kahan

Vice President, Global Marketing

Steve Kahan is responsible for leading the company’s marketing strategies and initiatives worldwide. He joined Quest with more than 20 years of experience directing marketing teams in systems management organizations. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at The Planet, where he was responsible for the company’s overall leadership and strategic marketing direction. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at BindView and NetIQ. Kahan holds a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University.

Carl Eberling

Carl Eberling

Vice President and General Manager, Virtualization and Monitoring Business Unit

Carl Eberling is responsible for leading and strengthening Quest’s position in the virtualization and monitoring market. Eberling is an IT industry veteran. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President of IT at Kaiser Permanente. Prior to that, he held senior-level IT-management positions at Verizon Wireless, Pacific Bell, Cellular One and AirTouch Communications. Eberling holds a bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and completed his graduate studies at University of California, Berkeley, and Golden Gate University. He also served in the U.S Marine Corps.

Kim Kinnison

Vice President, Worldwide Support

Kim Kinnison is responsible for all aspects of global support. Prior to assuming this role in 1999, Kinnison was the Director and Manager of Technical Support. From 2001 to 2004, she took on the additional role of Vice President of Human Resources. Kinnison also served as Vice President of Information Services from 1999 to 2001. Kinnison joined Quest in 1991 as a technical support engineer. Before coming to Quest, she was a systems programmer at Hughes Aircraft and an instructor/consultant at Hewlett Packard. Kinnison holds a bachelor's degree in computer information systems from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

John Ganley

John Ganley

Vice President, Human Resources

As vice president of Human Resources, John Ganley is responsible for Quest’s staffing and human resources strategies worldwide. He joined Quest Software in this role in 2005. Before coming to Quest, Ganley was vice president of global staffing at Symbol Technologies from 2004 to 2005. From 2001 to 2004, he was founding partner of JAG Partners, an executive staffing company designed to add value to emerging companies with high growth plans and limited capital to execute intensive staffing programs. Prior to that, Ganley held VP-level roles at 3COM and Digital, and was chief talent officer at EMC Corporation. Ganley holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from Regis College. In addition, Ganley is proud to have served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974.

David Cramer

David Cramer

Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

David Cramer is responsible for the worldwide legal affairs of Quest and its subsidiaries. In addition, he oversees Quest’s ethics and compliance functions. He joined Quest’s legal department in 2002 and assumed roles of increasing responsibility prior to being appointed to his current position. Cramer began his legal career as a corporate attorney in a California-based law firm where he focused primarily on representing public and private companies in corporate and securities law matters, M&A, venture capital financings and technology licensing transactions. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego School of Law and earned a bachelor’s degree in business (finance) from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Carol Fawcett

Carol Fawcett

Vice President, Global Information Services

Carol Fawcett is responsible for aligning the company’s global business needs and strategies with appropriate technology and process plans. Fawcett organizes and directs Quest’s worldwide I.S. activities and provides critical feedback to the business, as well as to the sales force, external customers and prospects on the company’s experiences using Quest products. She joined Quest in 2000 as Director of I.S., responsible for the company’s implementation efforts for Oracle and all other enterprise applications, including Siebel and Clarify. Prior to that, she served as Director of I.S. at Western Digital. Fawcett has 25 years of experience in applications for financial operations, manufacturing, CRM, HR/payroll, marketing and sales force automation. She has directed efforts to achieve both successful company-wide certification for ISO900x and adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Fawcett holds a bachelor's degree in management information systems from National University in San Diego, California.
